On Easter

A most blessed, blessed Easter to you all. That's honestly all I can think to say right now. I hope you all had as amazing a day as I know I'm going to have (I know, I know, don't count your chickens before their hatched...). But when the day starts with finding your epic Les Miserables egg in the flower vase, (it just makes me happy) as well as candy littering the table, (you all know what happens with me and candy) not even to begin to mention the stunning Mass the night before...well then :)
"See Mother, I make all things new." - The Passion of the Christ (incidentally, I watched it for the first time this past Good Friday... The scene with Mary where the quote comes from was lovely. The whole movie was beyond tears for me. You know, there's a line from the series "Catholicism" I remember from a while ago. I can't remember who said it, but it really got to me. They were showing a picture of the Crucifixion, a picture of Christ in all his misery, and the quote was "There is a picture...of a happy man." I don't know why that hit me so hard. But I think about it a lot.Well what do you know, I found something to say after all, however brief.)

On Example

A blessed Holy Thursday to you all. In light of this today's Gospel and message, I thought to remind you all, and myself, of the duty that falls on us by our faith. I'm no preacher, never will be, I'm not even allowed to be, but as I was praying in Mass tonight it suddenly struck me how much our example means. For example (no pun intended), my brother brought home a non-Catholic from college who we are bringing to Mass, and it occurred to me not only what a blessing it was that my faith is mine, and my family's, but also what a blessing - and task - it was that we were able to share that experience with someone who didn't already know about it. To be Catholic IS to be an example. Just as Christ washed the feet of his disciples, and bid them to do the same, we really need to step up and be an example, because we are lights in this world, and I feel that, for me, I need to make mine shine a heck of a lot brighter. I'm not going to put words in anyone's mouth, and this is more me trying to put everything into words. But do remember - trying only gets you so far - you have to DO. As the wise Yoda says "Do, or do not; there is no try." It was really an extraordinary feeling, kneeling there, remembering everything we are as Christians. Its so easy to feel that way in Church, and then walk out and forget about it. So try to remember the feeling, even keep it with you. Be an example, like Christ tells us to.
"I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.  Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them." - John 13:15-17

On Blogging and Newbies

Well, here I am, blogging. And I have no idea how to do it. I thought it would be easy, too ...how 'bout not. By the time I'd managed to figure out how to get my name to Rhian de Questa without breaking the keyboard from banging my head against it, I discovered, being a seeker (if you are just like "What? Seeker?" then I'll let you in on a secret - my real name isn't Rhian de Questa. Actually, you'd probably already figured that out. Well fine, if you're so smart, tell me what it means. Go on. Ha, see, you don't know. And I'm not going to tell you) that the blog needed to be customized, which took me an hour. Then I had to do something fancy with the profile. And when it comes to computer, I'm not fancy. So if you're already bored, like I am, and am thinking about not reading this anymore, then go and get some chips and read a book. If you take nothing else away from this, my first blog-post-thing, take away that chips and a book go better together than chips and a movie (this is because when you are eating chips during a movie, the bag rustles and you can't hear what the people on screen are saying). I'm new to this peculiar art of "blogging" and I don't think anyone is reading this anyway. So maybe I'll just stop. Or maybe I won't. Maybe I'll keep pestering you all with my random thoughts and adventures.
